Google Business Profile relocation still shows old address – fix map ranking now

Google Business Profiles (GBP) are the primary way local cafés, salons, groomers and studios appear in Google Maps and the local pack; the address field drives the map pin and proximity ranking.

The owner updated the address on 11 Sep, but after a suspension and reinstatement the map still shows the legacy pin, a known quirk when Google’s internal “primary location” cache isn’t refreshed after a move.

Because Google still thinks the business is at the old address, nearby searches (e.g., “coffee near Gladstone Park”) continue to route users to the former spot, cutting potential customers by up to 40 % in the new service area.

A coffee shop should add a “Service Area” covering Sunbury and remove the old city from the description; a hair salon can post a “We’ve moved!” update with the new map link; a pet groomer can request a manual “Move” verification via the GBP support form; a fitness studio can add the new address to its website schema and re‑verify the location.”

The fix is a two‑step process: (1) submit a “Change of address” request through the GBP dashboard (under Info → Address) and attach proof of the new premises; (2) after Google approves, post a “New location” status update and monitor the “Insights” tab for the “Searches where Google Maps showed your business” metric to confirm the pin has shifted.
