Meta Ads Adds Zip-Code Level "Neighbourhood Targeting" — Minimum $5/Day

Meta quietly launched granular neighbourhood-level targeting in Ads Manager, letting local businesses target users within specific zip codes or postcodes — not just city-wide. No agency or big budget needed.

The new targeting layer appears under "Detailed Locations" in Ads Manager. You can now select individual zip codes (US) or postcodes (UK, AU, CA) in addition to the existing radius-from-address option. This is particularly useful in dense urban areas where a 5-mile radius might cover very different neighbourhoods with very different demographics.

The feature is available for all campaign objectives including Traffic, Leads, and the new local-specific "Store Visits" objective. Minimum daily budget remains $5 for zip-code targeted campaigns, making it accessible for single-location businesses.

A pet groomer in Brooklyn reported targeting just two zip codes (11215, 11217) with a $7/day budget and achieving a cost-per-lead of $4.20 — compared to $11.80 on a broad radius campaign. The tighter geography meant the audience was almost exclusively within walking or driving distance.

What this means for your business

Map your 3-5 highest-value zip codes (where most of your current customers live) and build a separate campaign targeting only those. Run it for 14 days at $7/day alongside your existing campaign and compare cost-per-lead. Expect 30–50% improvement.
