2026 Social Media Image Sizes Updated: Instagram Favors 4:5, Facebook Reels Changed
Hootsuite updated image size recommendations for 2026. Key changes: Instagram now favors 4:5 ratio for feed posts, Facebook Reels dimensions changed, and TikTok expanded thumbnail crop areas. Wrong dimensions mean cropped logos and broken layouts.
Instagram feed posts now perform best at 1080x1350px (4:5 ratio) — square format (1080x1080) still works but gets less reach in the algorithm when uploaded against 4:5 content.
Facebook updated Reels cover dimensions to 1080x1920px, and the Stories safe zone shrank — keep important content in the center 80% of the frame to avoid platform UI covering your text or logo.
TikTok video covers should be 1080x1920px with key content in the middle 1080x1440px area — the platform crops top and bottom in browse views, cutting off content placed near edges.
Check your last 10 posts on each platform for cropping issues, especially any showing a logo or CTA near edges. Update your Canva or design templates with the new dimensions — a 30-minute fix that improves every post you make going forward.
