LinkedIn Ads Cost for Local Business (2026)

October 24, 2026·Nataliia· 8 min read All posts
LinkedIn Ads have a $10 minimum daily budget for any ad format, and LinkedIn's own guide puts the minimum for a new campaign at $100 lifetime. That is the only fixed number. What you pay per click, impression or lead is set in an auction, and LinkedIn's help pages do not publish an average. For a local business, the real question is whether your customer is on LinkedIn at all.
This guide is for owners of local service businesses in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. Every figure comes from a LinkedIn page I opened myself on 2026-10-24. Where LinkedIn does not publish a number, the article says so.

What Is the Minimum Budget for LinkedIn Ads?

LinkedIn's budget guide states: "The minimum daily budget amount required to start on LinkedIn is $10, for any ad format." It also sets a lifetime minimum of $10 per scheduled day, which it puts at $100 for a new campaign. For new advertisers paying in US dollars, the same page suggests starting at $25 a day.
At $10 a day you spend about $300 in a 30-day month. At the suggested $25 you spend about $750. These are budgets, not results. A $10 budget can be spent on very few clicks if your audience is expensive to reach, and LinkedIn does not say how few.
Budgets can be set per day, as a lifetime total, or both. The daily budget is an average. LinkedIn's help says daily spend can run higher on some days, and on a continuous schedule weekly spend is capped at seven times the daily amount. Your total never exceeds a lifetime budget.

How Does LinkedIn Charge for Ads?

LinkedIn describes pricing as an online auction. Your campaign competes with other advertisers for the same audiences and formats. Per the help article on advertising cost, the price to win depends on how desirable your target audience is, and "the more relevant your ad, the lower the price you pay."
What you are charged for depends on your objective and bidding strategy. LinkedIn's objective-based pricing page shows that brand awareness is generally charged per impression, website visits per impression or landing page click, and lead generation and website conversions a mix of impressions, clicks and message sends. So there is no single "cost per click" for the platform.
Bidding strategies named in LinkedIn's help are maximum delivery (automated), cost cap and manual bidding. Cost cap lets you set a maximum cost per action. Charges build up as your ads run and are billed on a regular basis, depending on your payment method.

What Is Not Published?

Several things owners ask about have no official answer on the pages I opened:
  • An average cost per click, per lead or per thousand impressions. LinkedIn's help pages give no dollar figures for these.
  • A minimum bid. The 2016 LinkedIn bidding post I opened does not state one, and it is old.
  • What a local audience in your city will cost. Pricing depends on targeting, so only Campaign Manager's forecast for your own audience is reliable.
You will find blog posts quoting averages. Those are secondary, and I did not use them. Treat any number you read without a source as a guess. The honest way to learn your cost is to build the audience in Campaign Manager and read the forecast before you commit money.

Who Is LinkedIn Worth It For?

LinkedIn sells access by job title, industry and company, not by neighbourhood. That fits businesses that sell to other businesses or to professionals: accountants, commercial cleaners, IT support, coaches, recruiters, commercial photographers. It fits poorly for a cafe, a salon or a dog groomer, whose customers live within a few miles and do not choose them by job title.
Our guide to LinkedIn Ads for local service businesses covers audiences and offers in more detail. If your customer is a homeowner or a walk-in, the same money usually goes further on a channel with local intent. See our Reddit Ads cost breakdown and Nextdoor Ads cost breakdown for comparison.

The Math: Is a $750 Month Worth Testing?

Every input below is an assumption you should replace with your own numbers. LinkedIn does not publish the cost per lead, so this example works backwards from what a customer is worth.
InputValue (assumption)
Monthly budget (the suggested $25 a day for 30 days)$750
Gross profit per new customer, first year$600
Customers needed to break even1.25, so 2 whole customers
Highest affordable ad cost per customer$375 (2 customers)
The test is simple. At $750 you need at least two new customers from LinkedIn in the month to avoid a loss. If your sales process turns one in five leads into a customer, that means roughly ten leads, or a cost per lead of about $75 at most. Check whether Campaign Manager's forecast for your audience makes that look possible. If you cannot see a route to ten qualified leads, run a smaller test or skip it.

What Rule Should You Use to Decide?

Use this rule: spend on LinkedIn only if you can name the job title of your buyer and your first sale is worth more than the cost of getting it. If you serve households, skip it. If you serve companies, test for one month with a budget you can lose, and judge it on customers, not clicks.
Before any spend, set up conversion tracking so you can count leads. Keep the test at least a few weeks, since the auction needs time to learn. Compare the result against your overall plan in our local marketing budget guide.

FAQ

What is the cheapest way to start on LinkedIn Ads?

The floor is a $10 daily budget, and a new campaign needs at least $100 lifetime. LinkedIn suggests $25 a day for new advertisers. Whatever you choose, you pay per the auction, not a fixed rate.

Does LinkedIn charge per click?

Not always. Depending on the objective, bidding strategy and optimization goal, you can be charged per impression, per click or per message sent. Check what your chosen setup charges for before launch.

Can I spend more than my daily budget?

Daily spend can be higher on some days. On a continuous schedule, weekly spend is capped at seven times the daily budget, and total spend never exceeds a lifetime budget.

How much does a lead cost on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn does not publish an average in the help pages I read. Use the forecast inside Campaign Manager for your audience, and treat third-party averages as unverified.

Is LinkedIn better than Google Ads for a local shop?

For most walk-in businesses, no. Google captures people already searching nearby. LinkedIn works when you sell to professionals and can target them by job title.
