Snapchat's pricing page says: "The minimum spend per day is $5, although we recommend $20-50 per day." That is the only fixed price. Beyond it, Snapchat says cost "depends on how much you're willing to invest to get the results you want," and it does not publish an average cost per click, view or install on the pages I opened. You set a budget and the auction decides what it buys.
This guide is for local owners in the US, UK, Australia and Canada deciding whether to test Snapchat. Every number was read on Snapchat's own site on 2026-10-24. Gaps are listed in a section of their own.

What Is the Minimum Budget for Snapchat Ads?
Snapchat sets the floor at $5 per day, which is about $150 in a 30-day month. The same page recommends $20 to $50 per day so an ad can finish what it calls the Exploration Phase, the early period where the system learns who responds. At $20 a day you spend about $600 a month, at $50 about $1,500.
The gap between $5 and $20 matters. A $5 budget is allowed, but Snapchat itself says it recommends more for the ad to learn. For a small shop, that means a very small test may end before it produces enough data to judge. Pick a budget you can run for several weeks, not a few days.
How Does Snapchat Price Ads?
Snapchat describes its model as a spend that scales with your goals: the more you invest, the more results you can ask for, and you can pause or stop ads at any time. The pricing page also refers to setting daily and lifetime spend limits. It does not give a rate card.
That is typical for auction platforms. You choose an objective, an audience, a budget and a bid approach, and what you are charged for depends on those choices. Snapchat's business help center has articles on bidding and on how its auction works, but when I tried to open them they did not load, so I am not quoting their details here. Check them in your own Ads Manager before launching.
Is There an Offer for New Advertisers?
Snapchat's advertising page currently says new advertisers can get $375 in ad credit when they spend $350 on their first Snapchat ad. It describes this as a one-time threshold, not a daily minimum. Offers like this change, and terms can differ by country, so read the conditions in Ads Manager before counting on it.
Treat the credit as a reason to start, not a reason to scale. Spending $350 to receive $375 only helps if the first campaign teaches you something. Decide in advance what a result is worth, and what you would need to see in the first $350 to continue.
What Is Not Published?
Snapchat's pages that I could open leave out the numbers owners most want:
- Average cost per click, per thousand impressions, per swipe-up or per lead. None is listed.
- Typical costs for a given city, industry or age group.
- Current auction mechanics. The help article on the Snap auction did not load.
- Conversion rates for local businesses.
Third-party blogs quote averages, and I have not used them because I could not trace them to Snapchat. If you read a cost figure without a link to Snap, a platform report or a study, assume it is a guess. The reliable number is your own, after a test.
The Math: What Does a $600 Month Need to Return?
Every input here is an assumption. The example works backwards because no official cost per result exists.
| Input | Value (assumption) |
|---|
| Monthly budget ($20 a day for 30 days) | $600 |
| Gross profit per new customer, first visit | $40 |
| Customers needed to break even | 15 |
| Share of customers who return once (assumption) | 30% |
| Extra profit from repeat visits | $40 x 4.5 = $180 |
At $600, you need 15 new customers at $40 profit just to cover the ad spend on the first visit. If 30% return once, the 15 customers add about $180, which is a modest gain. To judge the test, count new customers who say they came from Snapchat. If you cannot get close to 15, the channel does not pay for a business with a $40 first sale at that budget.
What Rule Should You Use to Decide?
Test Snapchat only if your customers are mostly under 35, your first sale is worth more than a few dollars, and you can fund at least $20 a day for four weeks. If your customers are older or your sale is small, put the same money into Google search or your Google Business Profile first.
Ask one question before launch: what is a new customer worth to me, and how many do I need? If you cannot answer it, you cannot read the results. See our

FAQ
How much do Snapchat Ads cost per day?
Snapchat's minimum is $5 per day and it recommends $20 to $50. What you pay per click or view depends on the auction and is not published.
Can I run Snapchat Ads for $5 a day?
Yes, it is the stated minimum. Snapchat recommends more so the ad can complete its Exploration Phase, so a $5 budget may give you too little data to decide.
Is there free ad credit for Snapchat?
Snapchat's advertising page offers new advertisers $375 in ad credit after $350 spent on their first ad. Check the terms for your country before relying on it.
What is the average cost per click on Snapchat?
Snapchat does not publish one on the pages I opened. Any figure you see elsewhere is secondary unless it links to Snap.
Is Snapchat better than Instagram for a local business?
It depends on your customer's age and how they find you. Test one platform at a time with the same budget so you can compare real customers, not clicks.
