Google Business Profile data overwritten via Soci integration – fix now

Google Business Profile is the free listing that appears in Google Search and Maps; local coffee shops, salons, groomers and gyms rely on it for discovery, directions and reviews.

In the past week dozens of GBP listings reported that their core information was swapped out for the nickname and contact details set in the Soci social‑posting platform, suggesting an automated sync bug or misuse of Soci’s API.

Because the name and contact fields are key ranking signals, the erroneous data can cause the listing to be demoted or flagged, leading to fewer impressions and lost revenue for the affected businesses.

A coffee shop using Soci for Instagram posts may see its Google Maps listing show a wrong address and lose morning commuters; a hair salon could have its phone number replaced, causing missed appointment calls; a pet groomer might lose its hours, turning away customers during peak times.

Monitor your GBP daily, audit any recent edits, and check Soci’s integration settings; the issue appears to be a bug affecting accounts that have enabled “auto‑sync profile info” in Soci’s dashboard.
