Devin AI Pricing 2026: Plans and ACUs Explained

November 7, 2026·Nataliia Rumiantsewa· 10 min read All posts
Devin's pricing page lists Free at $0, Pro at $20 a month, Max at $200 a month, and Teams at $80 a month plus $40 per full developer seat. Enterprise is custom. Devin's documentation says usage is measured in Agent Compute Units (ACUs), which reflect how much work the agent does, but the self-serve pricing page does not state a price per ACU or an ACU count per plan.
Prices and features checked on 7 November 2026.
This guide is for owners and marketers of local businesses who have heard of Devin, "the AI software engineer", and want to know what it costs and whether it fits a café, salon, grooming studio or gym. Every number comes from the vendor's pages, listed in Sources.

How Much Does Devin Cost?

The pricing page lists five plans, shown per month. No annual prices appeared.
PlanPriceWhat the page says
Free$0"Light quota to code with agents", limited model availability, unlimited inline edits, unlimited Tab completions
Pro$20 a monthIncreased quotas, a free SWE-2 model, frontier models from OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and SpaceXAI, Devin Cloud access, extra usage "at API pricing"
Max$200 a monthEverything in Pro with "significantly higher quotas"
Teams$80 a month team fee plus $40 a month per full dev seatEverything in Pro, sharing, centralized billing, admin dashboard, priority support, up to 200 users, Devin Desktop access for full users
EnterpriseContact salesSingle sign-on, dedicated or VPC deployment, custom terms
The page gives no number of ACUs or messages for any plan. The comparison table also shows concurrent-session limits, but its columns were not labelled in the text opened, so they are left out.
$20 a month

Pro is the lowest paid Devin plan on the pricing page, with Max at $200 and Teams at $80 plus $40 per seat

The page lists no ACU amounts, so the plans cannot be compared by units of work.

What Is an ACU?

Devin's usage documentation says: "Agent Compute Units (ACUs)" are how Enterprise customers draw down the volume in their order form, and a federal billing page describes ACUs as representing "how much actual work the agent is doing". The usage page adds that consumption depends on the number and complexity of actions such as planning, gathering context, running code and browser actions. Virtual machine time counts but is "typically a small fraction".
What does not use ACUs, per the same page: waiting for your reply, waiting for a test suite, and cloning repositories. Devin sleeps after 5 minutes of inactivity by default. Windows sessions use about 9% more than Linux.
For self-serve customers the page says plan quota is used first and then prepaid on-demand credits. It points to Settings, then Usage and limits in the app for balances. A price per ACU is not on any page opened, so a monthly bill cannot be calculated from the public pages.

What Is Devin and How Does It Work?

Devin's documentation calls it "an autonomous AI software engineer that can write, run and test code". It takes tasks such as tickets, bug fixes and new features. Each session includes a shell, an editor and a browser, and you can follow the work in a chat-style interface and step in.
You can use it from the web app, from a terminal tool called Devin CLI, or by tagging it in a Slack or Teams thread. From the CLI a /handoff command sends longer tasks to Devin in the cloud. It is aimed at software teams with a code repository, so a business without a developer will find it less direct than a chat-to-page tool like Lovable or Replit Agent.

Is Devin Desktop the Same as Windsurf?

Devin's Desktop FAQ says: "Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf", the same editor with the same features under the Devin brand. It states "Pricing is unchanged" and that "Devin Cloud remains a separate SKU". Devin Local, the agent that runs on your machine, "uses the exact same pricing model", so existing prompt-based credits continue.
The documentation describes Devin Desktop as "the Agent Development Environment for local and cloud agents": run Devin on your machine, delegate to the cloud or connect a third-party agent. In short, Devin the cloud agent works in a remote session and reports back, while Devin Desktop is an app on your computer. The pricing page puts both under one set of plans. For the editor side, with prices and quotas, read the Windsurf (Devin Desktop) guide.

What Can a Small Business Use Devin For?

These are possibilities, not results. Devin's documentation focuses on software work. For a local business that has a developer or a freelancer, that could mean:
  • Fixing a bug on a booking or ordering page.
  • Updating prices and opening hours across a site in one pass.
  • Building a small internal tool, such as a grooming appointment tracker.
  • Writing a landing page for a seasonal offer and opening it for review.
Without a developer, there is nobody to review the pull requests it produces, which is where the value of a "software engineer" agent sits. Owners who only want a page can compare simpler routes in the Cursor website guide.

What Would It Cost? A Worked Example

This is an assumption using only published prices. A fitness studio with a freelance developer wants a booking page refreshed over two months.
LineAssumptionCost
Free planTry the light quota first$0
ProTwo months at $20$40
Max for one monthIf the Pro quota runs out$200
Total, Pro only$40
Total, Pro then one month of Max$240
Max costs ten times Pro and the page gives no quota figures, so the jump is a leap rather than a step. Extra usage at API pricing is the other option on Pro, and its cost cannot be calculated from the pages opened.

What Are the Rules and Risks?

  • Who owns the output. Cognition's Platform Terms, last updated 30 June 2026, say "Cognition assigns to you all right, title, and interest in Output", and that you own your Customer Data.
  • Training on your data. The same terms say Cognition "may use Customer Data for model training purposes and to improve and enhance the Services". On a paid tier you may opt out, and on Teams only an administrator can opt out. After an opt-out, data is not used for training language models. Other Devin pages worded this differently, so check the setting in your account.
  • Competing products. The terms bar uses of the service such as training competing AI models without written approval.
  • Security reports. Cognition's trust centre lists a SOC 2 Type 2 report, available on request after an NDA. It does not state data-training rules.
  • No quota numbers. Usage cannot be forecast from public pages.
  • Review. Code written by an agent needs a person to read it before it reaches a live site or customer data.
Devin's browser and shell can reach whatever you connect, so connect only the accounts a task needs.
